(If you are curious… I got ridiculously lucky with GATEs, getting the emote one and the imp one several times in a row (they gain you a win of 430GP if you ace them, and they are easy to ace.))

We definitely need to race against each other sometime. Luckily, you can sign up in a party.

Also, how the hell do you do the imp one? I had one this morning and didn't understand it. All the NPCs looked the same as the real one, except the guy who gave me the quest had black gloves whereas all the other NPCs had white…. So I picked one and it was a fail :S

You can inspect both the quest giver and the other NPCs in detail with the second dialog option! Just talk to the questgiver again to get the option, then memorise (or write down) all the important details that can be set in character creation or with clothes (skin colour, hair colour, eye colour, do they wear earrings or glasses, what kind of clothes do they wear etc.)

Then do the same with the other NPCs (unless you can see on first glance they are different).
The NPC you want to throw the ash on is the one that looks exactly the same as the questgiver.
